Deacon Life

You’re not alone in this calling.

A community for Catholic permanent deacons, and a podcast about the life and ministry we share.

Permanent deacons serve the Church in ways few people see — hospital rooms, food pantries, marriage prep, funerals, and the quiet work of presence. But the diaconate can be isolating. Most deacons are the only one in their parish, and few have a place to connect with brothers who understand the calling.

Deacon Michael Halbrook

About the Founder

Deacon Michael Halbrook is a permanent deacon in the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois, now in his fifth year of ministry. A husband and father of four, he created Deacon Life because he believes deacons need each other — and that the stories of the diaconate deserve to be told.

He prays daily for his brother deacons.
